NOTES

"Royston 1914" was a one-off entertainment presented at the town museum to commemorate the centenary of the Royston Town carnival. It featured contemporary music and song, plus stories and advertisements from the local newspaper of 1914 as well as extracts from two one-act plays - "The Marble Slab" and "The Princess Youth and the Stranger" - written for the original carnival by a local woman, Miss Dutton Thompson, and discovered among the museum archives.
