To be involved in our pantomime, you will need to be available for rehearsals (7-9pm on Mondays & Thursdays from October to January) and for the last 3 weekends in January. If any adults would like to get involved backstage, please contact [email protected] Next play-reading group Our next meeting will be on Wednesday 28th October at the Heath sports club, featuring Lee Hall’s acclaimed play The Pitmen Painters. These meetings are definitely not auditions, nor do you need to be a CADS “regular” or have any previous drama experience! The group is open to absolutely anyone. Simply turn up around 7.30pm, buy a drink, and we’ll start reading by 8pm. Black Comedy roundup We’re still on a high from our latest successful production - an evening of Black Comedy & Light Entertainment, which we presented as part of this year’s Royston Arts Festival. The show was hugely enjoyed and received a lot of positive feedback. CADS would like to thank all those who worked on it, and all those who came along to enjoy it! See some photos from the show on our website’s Galleries page. Christmas meal Our CADS Christmas meal will be on Saturday 5th December at 7.30pm in The Bull. For a copy of the menu, please click here. If you’d like to come along, please confirm your menu choices to [email protected] and provide £5 deposit per person – the deadline for this will be in late November. Nominations for local drama awards CADS administers 2 annual drama awards – but the nominees don’t have to be a member of CADS: the awards are open to anyone “living in Royston or the surrounding villages”. If you wish to nominate anyone who has made a very notable effort in drama this year, please submit your nominee and reasons in writing to the CADS committee at any time (before January), and we’ll then choose and announce the winners in mid-January. - The Lizzie Houghton award is for anyone up to the age of 18, and can be awarded for efforts on stage, backstage, or for related music or scriptwriting. - The Fred Sillence award is for anyone aged 18 and over. 2016 Spring show CADS’ recent productions have all been of a fairly large nature. Whilst such challenges are fun, many would also appreciate some contrast - so, in the Spring, CADS would like to stage a production of more intimate size & style. However, as always this does rely on potential directors coming forward with ideas… Therefore, please get your thinking caps on! If you’d like to express any interest in helping to create such a production, or if you have ideas, please contact a member of the CADS committee.
