It's panto time! Tickets for our 2023 pantomime Sleeping Beauty go on sale for the first time this coming Sunday 20 November as is traditional at the King James Academy Royston Christmas Market.
The market opens at 11.00 a.m. at the Junior Site in Garden Walk and CADS will be on hand to sell tickets for our annual show - the first panto in three years. In recognition of the fact that so many of us are struggling with the cost of living this year, we've agreed to hold our prices at pre-COVID levels - £12 for adults and £8 for concessions (children, students and seniors) - despite rising costs.
The panto itself takes place as usual during the last two weekends in January and, as we planned to last year before circumstances forced us to cancel, we've added an extra matinee performance so that more children (and, of course, adults!) can enjoy the show. Dates and times are therefore: - Saturday 21 January 2.00 p.m.
- Saturday 21 January 7.30 p.m.
- Sunday 22 January 11.30 a.m.
- Friday 27 January 7.30 p.m.
- Saturday 28 January 2.00 p.m.
- Saturday 28 January 7.30 p.m.
Tickets go on sale online the day after the KJAR Christmas Market so, to be sure of yours, do try and get down to the school on Sunday and make sure you get the best seats!
Points mean prizes It's that time of year when we also make our annual drama awards. The Fred Sillence Award is presented annually to anyone aged eighteen or over in Royston or the surrounding villages who has made a significant contribution to drama or the theatre during 2022, while the Lizzie Houghton Award is given to anyone under that age who has similarly made an outstanding contribution to the performing arts - this could be in a school, a club, a theatre or dance group, on stage, backstage, or for music or scriptwriting.
Anybody from the local area can nominate someone for one or other of these awards, which will be announced at or after the last pantomime show, and nominees do not have to be members of CADS. Entries need to be in by the end of December, when the CADS committee will vote on who should receive each award. Please e-mail [email protected] with your suggestions, which should include your name, the name of your nominee, the age of your nominee if putting someone forward for the youth award, and a brief citation explaining why you think they should receive it.
Committee Our next meeting is on 14 December, so if there's anything you'd like us to consider or discuss then, please feel free to contact any of us at any time via the Contact page of this website! |
