The Box Office is now officially open for our Autumn production, the classic wartime drama Flare Path by Terence Rattigan, which is the CADS contribution to this year's Royston Arts Festival. Performances are at 7.30 on Friday 20, Saturday 21, Friday 27 and Saturday 28 September at the shortly to be re-named King James Academy (formerly Meridian School) in Garden Walk, Royston.

Note that seating for this show will be cabaret style with tables and chairs, so there will be no numbered seats. Note also that you don't need to have a Paypal account to book online - something that sometimes confuses people. You should find a link that allows you to pay by debit or credit card; if you experience any difficulties, do please ring the Box Office.
Pantomime 2020
We are delighted to announce that Nicky Paton will be directing the annual Royston Town Pantomime in January/February next year. The show is Jack and the Beanstalk by Tom Whalley, who wrote this year's hilarious Robinson Crusoe and the Pirates. Performances will be on Friday 24 and Saturday 25 January, and Friday 31 January and Saturday 1 February with the usual matinees on the two Saturdays and evening shows on all four dates.
Auditions for the pantomime will take place on Thursday 3 October, probably at King James Academy (but watch this newsletter and/or the website for confirmation), with chorus members (aged 12+) auditioning between 7.00 and 7.45 p.m. and principals (aged 18+) between 7.45 and 9.00. Rehearsals are likely to start the following week and will almost certainly be on Mondays and Thursdays.
Louise Atkins has once again agreed to be Musical Director, and Joe Daintrey and Phil Rowe will between them handle the technical side of things, but it's never too early to express an interest in helping out, either backstage, or front of house, or with costumes and/or make-up. The annual panto is a huge team effort (and it's also great fun!), so we're always grateful for volunteers. Evening meetings
As previously announced, CADS is reviving its programme of evening meetings, starting this Autumn. These will be at roughly six-weekly intervals and each will be hosted by a different person. They'll be taking place at the Coombes Community Centre in Royston and will run from 7.00 to 9.00 p.m. unless otherwise stated. Our first three meetings have already been planned and are:
* Wednesday 16 October - play reading: "My left nut", hosted by Emma Daintrey
* Wednesday 27 November - workshop: "The Meisner technique for actors", hosted by Martin Maynard
* Wednesday 8 January 2020 - illustrated talk: "Theatre on film", hosted by Michael Young
Drama schools
There seems to be a rash of drama classes and Summer schools in the area at the moment! Royston's own Limitless Academy of Performing Arts, who are already making a name for themselves locally, are running two Summer Schools on musical theatre giving participants the chance to work with stars from the West End shows Hamilton, Rock of Ages, In the Heights and Les Miserables. The schools consist of 13 lessons and workshops over five days and cost £140 each if you mention CADS (normal price would be £175). Ages catered for are 8-14 years and 15-21 years and the schools are being run from 5 to 9 August and 26 to 30 August at Limitless' own newly revamped studios at 9 Melbourn Street, Royston. Love Drama are also running a series of evening classes for adults from September in Letchworth - these are described as "confidence building drama classes for students of all abilities" and take place at the Letchworth Centre for Healthy Living in Hitchin Road. The course runs from Friday 13 September to Friday 6 December, starting at 7.00 and ending at 8.30. The cost is £96 for the whole course and further details can be found on their website www.letchworthcentre.org/classes/drama
Finally, the Actor's Café in Watford is offering a free introductory acting class at the Wellspring Auditorium, either on the evening of Tuesday 3 September (7.00-9.00) or during the day on Saturday 7 September (2.30-4.30) and you can apply to join by visiting their website www.actorscafe.co.uk and clicking on the "Free workshop" tab.
