(May 18, 2018)Ghost Writer - volunteers wanted
Our next show will be the CADS contribution to this year's Royston Arts Festival - it's a comedy by the hilarious David Tristram called Ghost Writer and is best described as a cross between Hamlet and Blithe Spirit. Auditions have been held and the cast announced as follows:
Edward: Rupert Jordan
Alex: Martin Maynard
Ruby: Alison Bass
Glenda: Rebecca Aloneftis
Frances: Brenda Cottis
Hedley: David Atkins
We have the kernel of a technical team but could really do with volunteers for stage manager, DSM and a number of other backstage roles. If you're interested, please contact the director Michael Young as soon as possible as we need to start planning well before the Summer...
New look!
The CADS Committee has had something of a make-over since the Annual General Meeting and your new committee looks like this:
Chair: Emma Daintrey
Vice-Chair: Wendy Watts
Treasurer: Rupert Jordan
Secretary: Michael Young
Committee members: Morgan Atkins, Brenda Cottis, Joe Daintrey, Zoe Reader, Pauline Rowe
Our next meeting is on 28 June so if there's anything you'd like us to consider or discuss, please feel free to contact any of us at any time via the Contact page of the CADS website!
Romance is Dead
Our exciting entry to the Cambridge Drama Festival in April scooped the newly established Backstage Endeavour Award as well as earning nominations for Rebecca Aloneftis (Bst Actress), Nicky Paton (Best Actor) and Mark Hamblin (Best Cameo Performance)! Our congratulations to everyone involved, not least director Emma Daintrey who not only directed but also adapted the script for the stage from an original radio play.
The preview performance of the play at Meridian School, in a double bill with scenes from Edward Bond's Saved by students of the school's Performing Arts Department, also won many plaudits and CADS is pleased to donate the profits from that performance to the school in recognition of their continuing support and assistance.
Pantomime 2019
We're delighted to announce that Alison Bass and Louise Atkins will be taking charge of next year's Royston Town Pantomime - choice of show yet to be advised. If you'd like to get involved, it's probably not too early to contact us and let us know...

Finally, you should have had an e-mail from us recently seeking your consent, under the imminent General Data Protection Regulations, to our continuing to contact you by e-mail. This becomes a legal requirement next week and we really, really don't want to loose touch with you, so if you haven't already, please take a few seconds to confirm that you're happy to receive our e-mails and announcements. Thank you.
